
For the past month or so I have been paddling outrigger canoes at the yacht club. Yes, there is a yacht club and, no, it's not as glamorous as it sounds. It consists mostly of older ex-pats who gather to drink in the evenings and tell stories of the
sea...or whatever older ex-pats talk about. But they do organize
paddling teams that compete in Samoa and around the Pacific.

My team has been dubbed the "Tall Team" because the average height of our paddlers is around 6'2". It's a five man group plus our coach/
steerer, who is not tall. We're not bad and not great but I believe our height demands respect on the water. These are pictures of some other team because I find it hard to take photos and paddle at the same time.

Our first meet is in the next few weeks and we are gearing up for that, another in November, and then a bigger meet in Fiji in the Spring. Stay tuned for race results. Here are some boat photos:
