Your moment of Zen

Little American Samoa

I found this program that takes your photos and is supposed to make the pictures look like shrunken matchbox car-size models of the actual images. It worked pretty well and here are the results. Above, a little boat in Pago harbor.

Little downtown Pago Pago.

Little Department of Public Safety.

Little harbor.

Little church.

Little Governor's mansion.

Some more from Ofu

Just a couple more shots from the island of Ofu. Above, my feet. Hard to tell but they get pretty beat up living on the island.

An Ofu barrel.

An Ofu pipe.

That's all.

Getting sloshed for a good cause

Two of the palagi association's favorite teachers, Katie and Kara, are leaving the island. Katie for good and Kara, incredibly, is renewing her contract and will be back in August. In their honor, we held a sloshball game in Lions Park. Above, the park, pre-game and post-rain.

The conquering heroes arriving for their game.

Kara, who is coming back to continue to serve the territory in August.

Katie, who is gone for good.

Some of the players waiting for the game to start. Unfortunately, I have no action shots of the game since I was playing but, in short, my team lost by 18 points.

So here are some post-game people pictures. Yes, there are real ex-pat families down here, below is Helen, bummed about her picture being taken, and mom, Melissa.

Helen's sister, Siri, being entertained by new Sarah.

Co-clerk Chase and Katie.

Me, with my eyes closed, and Katie.

The island is nice.

Here are some really nice photos of American Samoa that I did not take.
